The London Borough of Hackney is to close 16 road junctions to motorised traffic within a residential area in a three-month trial aimed at reducing rat-running traffic.
The closures will affect a roughly one square kilometre area of the London Fields part of the borough.
Planters filled with flowers and shrubs will be located across the junctions, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to pass but preventing vehicular traffic from doing so.
