Nexus has launched a new smartcard for Metro and bus travel in Tyne and Wear.

The PTE this month started issuing the ‘Pop cards’ to replace existing under-16 identification cards. Season ticket purchasers will be the next to receive the cards.

A stored value pay-as-you-go card will be introduced next year, first on Metro services and then on buses. 

Passengers will be able to top-up the ITSO smartcards  online, at Tyne and Wear Metro ticket machines, and Nexus...
