Uber and Lyft join Waymo in starting Robotaxi services in London this year

Testing has begun to bring London a global profile for the introduction of travel by autonomous vehicles in 2026, with Uber and Lyft joining Waymo in launching pilot robotaxi operations during the year. Some reports indicate Tesla is also  targeting a June 2026 launch for a rival robotaxi service in the capital.

Driverless cars have been seen for the first time on London streets as part of trials ahead of them being used to pick up passengers later this year.
