During the third reading of the Government's Road Safety Bill shadow transport minister Christopher Chope was heard to say: "We are achieving a reduction of speeds, accidents and fatalities at the specific site of speed cameras - that is hardly surprising - but people continue to speed elsewhere, resulting in a significant number of deaths". Doesn't this admission lead one to conclude that we should have more safety cameras, not fewer, which is the Tory party's stated policy?...
