Higher parking charges for diesel cars

Owners of diesel vehicles in the London boroughs of Islington and Hackney will have to pay higher residential parking permit charges, as the councils try to improve air quality.

Hackney is proposing a £50 levy for diesel vehicles. Islington residents will have to pay an extra £96 on top of the existing permit charge that is graded according to a vehicle’s carbon dioxide emissions.
