Welsh transport minister Ieuan Wyn Jones this week scrapped plans for an M4 relief road round Newport, claiming that cost increases made the project unaffordable. Jones also announced  the WAG would not proceed with major road improvements to Cardiff Airport.

The announcements came alongside publication of a new draft transport plan for Wales. Proposals include:
