Wales to pilot free bus travel for asylum seekers

Asylum seekers in Wales are to be offered free bus and train travel in a three-month pilot. The news coincides with a campaign by Labour in Scotland for similar provisions there.

The Welsh pilot follows more than three years of preparation. In 2018, Welsh Government minister Julie James said some asylum seekers and refugees had no recourse to public funds until they had achieved various status levels (LTT 27 April 2018).
