Merseytravel axes half fare for kids

Merseytravel is to discontinue subsidising children's cash fares on bus services from April, saying that operators should pick up the bill instead. Children will continue to receive half fare travel if they purchase one of the PTE's pre-paid tickets. Merseytravel chair, Councillor Mark Dowd, said bus operators should fund the scheme themselves and the Government should make half fare travel mandatory, as it is for train travel.
