Tyne and Wear’s bus strategy sets the scene for QC decision

Nexus is consulting on a new bus strategy for Tyne and Wear that will provide the context for a decision on whether to implement Quality Contracts.

The strategy aims to achieve three objectives:

reverse the decline in patronage, from a baseline of 139 million passengers in 2011/12 to 149 million in 2022;

maintain, and preferably grow, network accessibility; and

deliver better value for public money, reducing public subsidy from £0.40 per passenger...
