Doncaster shows why elected mayors aren’t the way forward

As a resident of Doncaster, the only borough in Yorkshire to have an elected executive mayor, I found the various references to the town in LTT interesting. What is clear from our experiences here is that the present legislation is unfit for purpose; it delivers an elected dictator, without effective checks or balances.
