Manchester Metrolink tram extensions, Greater Manchester

Funding approvals announced by the DfT last week mean that construction work on the Manchester Metrolink tram extensions to Ashton-under-Lyne and East Didsbury can begin early next year. The DfT is providing a capped contribution of £120.89m towards the total scheme cost of £170m – a figure that includes £9m for additional contingency which scheme promoter the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive will be liable for. GMPTE is providing the balance of funding....
