Councils push for smartcard delivery

Transport for South Hampshire is asking the South East’s regional transport board to accelerate funding for a smartcard public transport ticketing scheme in the TfSH area which covers Portsmouth, Southampton and the southern part of the Hampshire.

TfSH believes that a smartcard for rail, bus and ferry services would cost £5m–£10m to deliver. The joint committee wants the regional transport board to fund the project from the Regional Funding Allocation, possibly by...
