Expert challenges 'politically correct' agenda of reducing trip lengths

A continuing road construction programme is vital to ensuring the UK's economic prosperity because new roads help to break local monopolies, drive down prices and ultimately boosts incomes, according to a professor of transport and land use planning.

Marcial Echenique, professor of land use and transport studies at the University of Cambridge, told LTT?that pursuing the existing "politically correct" goal of leading more localised lifestyles would harm the country's economy.
