Local election upheaval throws transport policies into doubt in many areas

 The major changes in the political map across England and Wales after last week’s elections have left transport policies in flux in many areas as the new controlling parties get to grips with their inheritance.

Some places have seen the wholesale replacement of Labour, by either Reform UK (now controlling 24 councils) or the Greens (in charge of five), neither of whose detailed local transport plans have been clearly spelt out.
