The DfT has published a policy paper setting out its “vision” for bus services in England. According to the document, the “best way to make the local bus service successful is for it to have a strong revenue base of passengers”. This requires bus services to be “attractive to everyone in the community, including those who do have a private vehicle available, for those trips where taking the bus can work for them”, it states.
