Levelling up funding is ‘bypassing’ the strategic aims of devolved governments

The UK Government’s allocation of Levelling Up Fund money to transport and other schemes in Scotland and Wales has been criticised for bypassing devolution. Some of the transport schemes could even be blocked by Scottish ministers.

Roads have been devolved in both nations since 1999 but the first round of LUF allocations includes £24m for improvements on the B714 in North Ayrshire, £20m for improvements at Westfield roundabout in Falkirk and £11m for the A4119 Coed-ely...
