Abellio’s contract for the ScotRail franchise is to end early, Scottish transport secretary Michael Matheson has announced.
The current franchise agreement can run to 2025 but this requires ministers and Abellio to revisit the level of Government subsidy provided for the remaining five years.
Transport Scotland said Abellio’s request for a “significant increase in Government subsidy” did not represent value for money.
