May I thank Stephen Plowden for his interesting comments on my letter about HS2 (Letters LTT 05 Feb).  

I certainly share his concern over the lack of reductions in carbon emissions and this should be given much greater priority. I would see HS2 not only winning car traffic by its faster speed, but also by more efficient interchanges between classic rail and high-speed rail.
