Thousands of drivers a week are receiving penalty charge notices (PCNs) for ignoring an experimental ban on general traffic crossing a bridge in York city centre.
Since the end of August the Lendal bridge has been restricted to buses, taxis, cyclists, pedestrians and emergency vehicles between 10.30 and 17.00 seven days a week.
The ban’s aims are to reduce congestion, create a bus priority corridor, and improve the environment for pedestrian and cyclists.
