The DfT’s new air passenger forecasts predict the market returning to growth, albeit at a lower rate than seen in recent years.

The phenomenal growth in demand for air travel over the last three decades has driven investment in new airport capacity as well as better surface access to airports, whether it be new rail lines, stations, or road access. But the economic turmoil of the last three-four years has severely dented confidence in the aviation sector, with passenger numbers through UK airports having fallen for three successive years.
