Paul Carter is a firm supporter of Ashford’s innovative shared space scheme on the town’s former ring road, and says Britain’s biggest motoring pundit was wrong to criticise the project.

“I’m a big supporter of Jeremy Clarkson because I’m a petrolhead as well,” jokes Carter, whose hobbies include participating in pre-war sports car races. “But he was wrong on the shared space.”
