White Paper plots a ‘green’ path to economic growth

Boosting economic growth and cutting carbon dioxide emissions are the twin goals of the Government’s local transport White Paper.

Local Authorities should ‘nudge’ people into walking and cycling more and using cars less, according to the White Paper. Nudging, it explains, “emphasises the importance of those who control the context in which choices are made, thinking carefully about how to ensure the design of products/processes/environments works with human behavioural tendencies to encourage ‘good’ choices’.”
