The Labour Party is to review its commitment to a high-speed rail network as part of leader Ed Miliband’s root and branch review of party policy.
Shadow transport secretary Maria Eagle told The Guardian: “Just as the Prime Minister said when he told the defence secretary that Trident couldn’t be put in a special box marked untouchable and protected from tough spending decisions, neither can high-speed rail.”
