Providing adequate parking

Whilst doing everything possible to encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport, the Manual for Streets acknowledges that, in the real world, the private car will remain a significant transport mode and that, therefore, the provision of adequate parking in new urban developments is of considerable importance. "The way cars are parked is a key factor for many issues, such as visual quality, street activity, interaction between residents and safety," the guidance says....
