Intertraffic Awards 2026 winners announced

Innovative technologies recognised at start of international trade show in Amsterdam

The winners of the Intertraffic Awards 2026 have been announced at the opening ceremony of Intertraffic Amsterdam.

The awards ceremony marked the start of the international trade show, which is running at RAI Amsterdam in The Netherlands from 10 to 13 March.

The Green Globe Award – recognising environmental sustainability – was won HR Groep Streetcare for MB Air, a CE-certified compressed-air bicycle parking-lift system.

The Inspiration Award went to Deltabloc International for Deltabloc TAM Technology, a fibre optic sensing platform capable of monitoring traffic across 50 kilometres of road in real time.

The User Experience Award was awarded to Monotch for TLEX Interchange, a cloud-native engine for seamlessly setting up real-time, low-latency mobility data exchange. Luxene claimed the ITSUP Startup Award for its laser-driven, fibre-optic road-marking system.

A Special Jury Mention was given to NavTac Temporary Tactile Guidance Films by Brite-Line.

The Intertraffic Awards jury is led by its chairman Pieter Litjens, director of CROW, who reflects that this year's selection process was made particularly compelling both by the rich mix of solution types as well as the passion that lay behind all of the nominations that made it to the final 15 – all of whom had presented their solutions to the panel across an entire day at the RAI exhibition centre, ahead of Intertraffic Amsterdam.

“It was great to see the combination of innovation, heartfelt presentations, and the inspiring nature of the people who are behind them,” said Litjens. “There are people behind each of these innovations who are inventing and making them. And they're not only making them to make profit or to sell something. They are making these solutions because they believe in better, safer traffic, or a better world, or a sustainable surrounding. That's what I like most.”

Litjens highlighted the breadth of the shortlist. “We saw a lot of technical applications – software, hardware inventions – all very technical. But I also liked the mix between high tech and also some low tech, very simple inventions that really make an impact – and can contribute to inclusivity in society.”

On the technology side two of the four award recipients – Deltabloc TAM and Luxene – employ fibre optic technology, albeit in entirely different applications. Deltabloc uses distributed fibre optic sensing cables embedded alongside or within road surfaces to detect vehicle vibrations and translate them into rich traffic data.

Meanwhile Luxene embeds laser-driven, side-emitting glass fibres directly into road markings to provide continuous visual guidance in rain, snow and darkness. The jury observed that the two technologies could, in theory, be complementary on future road infrastructure projects.

The winners

Green Globe Award: MB Air - HR Groep Streetcare
MB Air addresses a fundamental infrastructure challenge created by the growth of e-bikes across European cities. Conventional double-tier bicycle parking systems were designed for lightweight bicycles and are now significantly underused – research suggests upper tiers see as little as 20% utilisation – because e-bikes, which average around 30kg, are simply too heavy for most riders to lift.

MB Air eliminates the physical effort entirely through a horizontally-moving, compressed-air-powered lift mechanism, making upper-tier parking accessible to all users including older riders and those with child seats. The system received its CE certification in time for its public launch at Intertraffic Amsterdam.

The jury was struck by the real-world simplicity of the solution and its potential across European cities facing acute cycle parking pressures, as well as its modular deployment possibilities and virtually maintenance-free design.

Inspiration Award: Deltabloc TAM Technology - Deltabloc International
Deltabloc TAM brings distributed fibre optic sensing – technology previously used in pipeline and earthquake monitoring – to the field of traffic management. A single interrogator unit connected to up to 50km of sensing cable, placed alongside or beneath the road surface, detects the vibrations created by passing vehicles and translates them via AI and machine learning into comprehensive traffic data: speed, counting, braking behaviour, overtaking events, traffic jam formation and more. 

The system requires no gantries, no cameras, no local power supply and no complex cabling infrastructure beyond the fibre itself.

The jury found the technology completely new and groundbreaking, a key factor in earning it the award. Close attention will now be paid to real-world testing, some of which has already been conducted in Germany, Belgium, Slovenia, Latvia and the UK.

User Experience Award: TLEX Interchange – Monotc
TLEX Interchange provides a cloud-native, wizard-guided platform for real-time data exchange between mobility stakeholders – road authorities, infrastructure operators and others – built on AMQP messaging and aligned with international C-Roads standards.

The jury recognised it as a deeply practical solution to a problem that is easy to overlook: the enormous complexity and technical expertise currently required to establish and maintain mobility data-sharing between public and private actors.

The jury felt that the TLEX system offered an unrivalled user experience for those charged with setting up connected vehicle systems, delivering an elegant software platform to interact with that replaces hours of complex programming.

ITSUP Startup Award: Luxene
Luxene's guidance line system embeds a laser-powered, side-emitting fibre optic cable into standard road-marking materials, creating a continuous, low-energy light line that works in rain, snow and darkness – conditions in which conventional road markings fail. The system places all electronics and laser sources in roadside cabinets up to 400 metres apart, with no active components in the road surface itself.

The jury found the technology sleek and streamlined and the business case compelling, particularly given that autonomous driving systems are also affected by the failure of conventional road markings in wet conditions. At an anticipated cost of €20–40 per metre compared with approximately €80 per metre for conventional lighting, the system offers a significant cost advantage.

Special Jury Mention: NavTac - Brite-Line
NavTac's Temporary Tactile Guidance Films – adhesive rubber strips providing tactile and visual guidance for visually impaired pedestrians through construction zones and temporary diversions – received a Special Jury Mention. The solution was developed in direct collaboration with a school for blind and visually impaired people in Hanover, Germany, where the absence of any temporary tactile guidance solution had long presented a serious challenge. Jury member Jorrit Weerman, chief executive of Parking Network, was a strong advocate for NavTac's recognition, citing its direct and tangible impact on people's lives. "It really makes a difference,” he said.
