Stoke-on-Trent draws up strategy to avoid Clean Air Zone

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is drawing up a set of measures in a bid to avoid introducing a Clean Air Zone (CAZ). The plans will include reconfiguring junctions to make them safer for cycling and walking, and make traffic flow more smoothly.

In 2021 the council identified a CAZ as the way in which pollution could be reduced in the quickest possible time after the Government's assessment process. The Government had told the council to reduce nitrogen dioxide levels along a part of Victoria Road...
