Reading introduces emission-based parking charges

Owners of more polluting vehicles face higher tariffs, but 50% of motorists expected to see no change

Owners of higher polluting vehicles are now paying more for on-street parking in Reading.

From 2 February new emission-based charges will apply to pay & display on-street parking and residents’ permits in Berkshire town.

The scheme is part of Reading Borough Council’s aim to improve air quality and health in the town and reduce carbon emissions by encouraging the use of public transport, low-emission vehicles and cycling and walking.
