Local authorities in the East Midlands are drawing up proposals to establish a mayoral combined authority (MCA) that would become the local transport authority for the area.
The MCA could cover six existing local transport authorities: Derbyshire, Derby, Nottinghamshire, Nottingham, Leicester and Leicestershire. Under the reforms, they would become local highway authorities.
