Shipping containers could be converted into secure bike parking stations as part of a proposed bike hire scheme in Southampton and Portsmouth.
The idea features in Solent Transport’s Future Mobility Zone bid to the DfT. Solent Transport wants to create the “most secure bike share scheme in the country”. Containers would be cladded or coloured to improve their appearance and could be moved “in a matter of hours” in response to demand.
