Big cars offset the drop in CO2 levels

Consumers’ preference for larger cars has reversed the long-term decline in average carbon dioxide emissions from new cars in Scotland.The 2019 edition of Scotland’s Carbon Account for Transport, which collates statistics for 2017 from various sources, records that new cars registered in 2017 had average CO2 emissions of 120.2g per km, compared with 120g per km in 2016. “This was the first time that the average emissions of new car registrations increased since records began...
