Bring the axe down on HS2, says Johnson

The Government should scrap HS2 and use the money saved for tax cuts and funding the NHS, Boris Johnson said this week.

Writing in The Daily Telegraph, Johnson said the cost of HS2 had “soared past £60bn” was “heading for £70bn” and would “probably top £100bn by the end”. 

He said the NHS needed more money and the Government should also be planning tax cuts as a way of encouraging private enterprise.
