Greater Manchester Combined Authority has approved a zonal fares system for travel on the Manchester Metrolink. The current fare structure uses point-to-point fares based on 18 underlying fare bands. The new zonal structure, to be introduced next year, features four zones and will facilitate the introduction of differential capping for contactless payments, based on the number of zones a passenger travels in.
