Transport for London has launched a £42m three-year scheme to remove the oldest taxis from London’s streets. Owners of vehicles ten- to 15-years old can apply for a grant of up to £5,000 in exchange for retiring their vehicle. An owner of a ten-year old vehicle would receive the full £5,000 whereas the owner of a vehicle aged 14-15 years old would receive £1,200.
