I was excited when accessibility planning was introduced as part of the local transport plan process in England. But I wasn’t surprised when little appeared to change. A major reason for this is the sheer complexity of accessibility measurement. Nonetheless, the underlying project – doing something to reduce transport inequality – remains valid. I set out here a new and more straightforward way of approaching the issue.
