Councils discuss ‘Great South West’ alliance

Local authorities in South West England have held exploratory talks about forming a ‘Great South West’ grouping, to provide the area with an equivalent influence to the Northern Powerhouse and Midlands Engine groupings.

The proposals could mark the start of discussions about setting up a sub-national transport body (STB) for the South West area.
