Uncertain future for Readybike scheme

Reading’s bike hire scheme, Readybike, will close this summer unless the council succeeds in procuring a new operator on subsidy-free terms. 

Readybike was launched in 2014 and has about 200 bikes distributed across 29 docking stations. The scheme is operated by Hourbike, which receives an annual subsidy of about £130,000.
