Reading eyes traffic restraint by 2020

Demand management measures such as a workplace parking levy or road charging could be implemented in Reading as soon as 2020, according to the council. 

The Labour-run authority is to study three demand management options to inform a new local transport plan:

• a workplace parking levy

• a clean air zone/low emission zone

• road charging

A package of complementary measures such as traffic management, park-and-ride, bus priority and active travel will also be assessed.
