The recent consultation for the revised HS2 alignments does show again transport planning at its most inept (‘Grayling confirms HS2 routes to Leeds and Manchester’ LTT 25 Nov). The relocation of the depot from Golborne to Crewe is welcome as the original proposal was perverse and not related to passenger demands, merely the location of a siding by Wigan.
