HS2's legacy: never-ending demands for more spending

I would add another reason why we may live to regret HS2 (Letters LTT 25 Nov). All towns and cities not served by new-style high-speed rail will feel that they are deprived – even where classic rail provides a fast, reliable service – and they will lobby for “their” new high-speed line. These will be less and less viable, but still very expensive. HS2 will open up a Pandora’s box of demands. This is what has happened in France, and the Cardiff Business Partnership...
