Lack of resident bays forcing drivers to park illegally, says study

One in ten drivers say they had been forced to park illegally near their home because they cannot find an empty residents bay, according to a new study by esure Car Insurance. Around a third of these drivers were fined an average of £106 for parking illegally, the study said. Car ownership has grown at twice the rate of residential parking spaces over the past five years, with more than two million extra cars on the road, estimates esure.
