We’ll legislate to create Clean Air Zones in five cities, pledge ministers

Councils in Birmingham, Leeds, Southampton, Nottingham and Derby will have to introduce Clean Air Zones (CAZ) to improve air quality, according to a toughened-up air quality plan prepared by the Government. 

The CAZs will set emission standards for certain classes of vehicle – though not cars – with non-compliant vehicles having to pay a charge to enter the zone.
