York’s Clean Air Zone to target city’s bus fleet

The City of York Council plans to implement a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) in 2018 to control bus emissions.

The CAZ would cover the area within the city’s inner ring road and require ultra low emission standards for the most frequently entering buses (entering the CAZ ten times a day or more). 

Less frequent buses will initially be exempt but will be given a more gradual timetable to meet Euro emission standards.
