Fife presses ahead with plan to re-open rail branch

Fife Council is pressing ahead with plans to partially re-open the disused Methil/Leven railway branch to passengers and, possibly, freight. 

The line’s re-opening is Fife’s top transport priority.  A study by consultant SYSTRA of public transport options for the Leven area, on Fife’s south-east coast, has recommended short-term improvements to bus/rail interchange at Markinch, including timetable enhancements that would require additional buses.
