Many variations to the route or (more often) station sites have been put forward but rarely does anyone get any detailed response, except occasionally off the record in open meetings or breakout sessions in conferences. Personally I would like to have seen more one-on-one comparisons of best options, e.g. in phase one Chiltern versus M1 corridor; in phase two west Stoke-on-Trent versus Crewe...
