Station visitors don’t catch trains

A huge number of pedestrians who enter some of Britain’s busiest rail stations don’t do so to catch a train, figures published by Network Rail show. NR has just released the first footfall data generated by sensors installed at 15 of its managed stations. It has compared the figures to Office of Rail Regulation ticket entry and exit data for the stations. The biggest discrepancy between the two datasets is for London Liverpool Street – NR believes that 119 million people...
