Public discussion of transport infrastructure investment is being damaged by dubious job creation and economic growth claims, according to the director of a Government-funded research centre on local economic growth.

In a keynote paper to last week’s Modelling World conference, Henry Overman said much greater discipline needed to be imposed on the claims made by policy-makers about transport investment’s impact on the economy.
