The Highways Agency is consulting on implementing Managed Motorways All Lane Running (MM-ALR) on a 20-mile stretch of the M1 between junctions 28 (South Normanton, the A38 junction) and 31 (Aston, the A57 junction). The scheme, scheduled for delivery by 2015, will feature permanent hard shoulder running, variable mandatory speed limits, and emergency refuge areas. Consultation ends on 3 April.
