The Government is pushing for an expansion of road building in England using private finance.

Danny Alexander, the chief secretary to the Treasury, outlined the thinking to a City audience this week.

“At Budget we announced options to improve A14 capacity [across Cambridgeshire] that could be part-funded through tolling,” he said.
