The Scottish Government this week pledged to deliver a major programme of road and rail upgrades over the next three years but left local authorities facing a £220m reduction in capital spending over the next two years.

The Government’s three-year spending review covering 2012/13-2014/15, includes provision for:

The Edinburgh-Glasgow rail improvement project, including electrifying much of the Central Scotland rail network
