Hitachi considers UK plant for Super Express trains

Japanese industrial giant Hitachi is considering creating hundreds of jobs on Tyneside at a factory to build carriages for "super express" trains.

Gateshead is one of four sites being considered by the company for a plant to make carriages for a new generation of high-speed inter-city trains.

The government awarded Hitachi the £7.5bn contract earlier this year...
